    Current Research Interests
  • Reproductive systems and their influence in populations and species: Sexual selection and conflict; selfish genetic elements; mixed modes of reproduction and clonality.
  • The ecological and evolutionary processes that influence the deep-sea chemosynthetic ecosystems (hydrothermal vents and cold seeps)
  • Co-evolution and symbiosis
  • Conservation of threatened species and habitats

    • Current Post Doctoral Project
    • "The importance of dispersal, selective and co-evolutionary processes in driving the evolution of deep-sea species"
    • Coordinator: Dr. Sophie Arnaud-Haond IFREMER Brest; Ass. Prof. Ester Serrão, University of Algarve; Prof. Daniel Desbruyéres, IFREMER, Brest, France.
    • Mixed Postdoctoral Fellowship (SFRH/BPD/39097/2007), funded by FCT, Portuguese Science Foundation, Portugal.
