• The role of abiotic stress and natural selection in driving population divergence in broadly-distributed marine plants and algae.
• Development of selective markers using genome-wide screens to identify stress-responsive genes, for use in studies of population-specific variation in gene expression.
• Comparative plastid transcriptomics of fucoid species in response to physical conditions in the intertidal zone.
• Reproductive ecology and reproductive success of interidal fucoid algae, mating system evolution
